Call For Candidates of the ICCN Exchange program 2013

The ICCN Secretariat is calling for candidates who will join the ICCN exchange program 2013. Based on the huge success of last year's experiences, it is great pleasure to operate the exchange program again, this year.
 
The Secretariat invites people (experts) from each member city and organization of the ICCN to do dispatched-service at the Secretariat, Gangneung. This project will be a best opportunity for both the secretariat and members, to share each other’s knowhow in the field of running cultural festival and international conference. This project aims to empower both the ICCN Secretariat and members’ capability. Each participant will have different projects for their stay in Gangneung. Additionally, they will get a chance to experience “Gangneung Danoje” festival and Gangneung Coffee festival, which are the representative festivals in Korea, as well as operational mechanism of festivals in Gangneung.
 
This ICCN Exchange program is operated with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Korea, and Korean Culture and Information Service. It is a part of the Cultural Partnership Initiative, so called CPI, which is for preparing a foundation of mutual development through cultural interchange between Korea and Asia, South America, Africa, and East Europe. The ICCN Secretariat operates the program as a one of host organizations along with other several Korean cultural institutes.

□ Application Information □
 
1. DURATION: 6 months (June 1st ~ November 30th, 2013)
※ For the Int’l conference training: 4 months (June 1st ~ October 6th, 2013)
 
2. LOCATION: ICCN Secretariat, Gangneung, Republic of Korea
 
3. FIELD: Culture, Art, Tourism, and Media
 
4. COMMON QUALIFICATIONS
(1) Specialist in the field of Culture, Art, Tourism, and Media (Artist, Public servant, Researcher, Journalist, etc.) Candidate has to be between 25 to 45 years of age and from Asia, Africa or East Europe.
(2) Competent language capacity is required for training (English).
(3) Holding a position in related training sector within his/her native country with an active interest for cultural exchange with Korea
 * Former CPI Participants cannot apply.
 
5. PROJECTS’ DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS
※ There are two categories. When you submit the application, choose one and make a mark which categories you apply for.
 
(1) International Conference training(4months’ program)
ICCN holds the international conference, which are General Assembly and Thematic workshop, every other year. Main function of the trainee is to assist the preparation of 2013 ICCN Workshop and ICCN Youth Forum which will be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It includes corresponding with ICCN members and experts, preparing materials for the meeting, and supporting cooperation with UNESCO and other international organizations. Also, trainee should do a research related to local cultural events or festivals and submit a short research paper within 6 months.
Qualifications:
ㆍPreferred working experiences in international conferences and cooperation,
ㆍUnderstanding of ICCN and its Activities,
ㆍStrong English ability in writing and speaking (French will be an additional asset)
Responsibilities;
Daily Responsibilities include;
ㆍSupport preparation of the 2013 ICCN Workshop and Youth forum,
ㆍCooperation with UNESCO and other international organizations,
ㆍWrite a short-research report related to local cultural events or festivals
 (Specific topic will be decided after consulting between the secretariat and trainee)
 
(2) Promoting of ICCN and members’ Culture (6months’ program)
Since the ICCN Secretariat is located in Gangneung, Korea, we are doing activities in local. Therefore, trainee will be to introduce not only their own culture but all ICCN members’ culture to the local under cooperation with Gangneung city and to work together with Gangneung Danoje performance team for a joint performance. It includes PR of ICCN and its members’ culture internationally, too.
Qualifications:
ㆍArtist, preferred performing his/her own intangible cultures,
ㆍUnderstanding of ICCN and its Activities,
ㆍOpen minded and good communication skill with foreigners regardless of English communication level,
ㆍWillingness to learn Gangneung Danoje performance (listed as UNESCO Intangible cultural Heritage of Humanity) and to have joint-performance
ㆍPreferred skills of Social Media (Facebook, Youtube and any other types of web-based media)
Responsibilities;
Daily Responsibilities include;
ㆍPreparation of the events to introduce ICCN and members culture toward the local,
ㆍParticipation in the basic learning course of Gangneung Danoje performances,
ㆍJoint performances with local performers,
ㆍPlan for promoting ICCN and members cultures internationally
 
(3) Mandatory Program
A. Korean Language Class
B. Experiencing Korea and its cultures
 
6. SUPPORT
Financial support for Round-trip airfare, Living expenses, Training expenses (including Korean language training), and Medical insurance will be provided.
(1) Airfare: Round-trip direct flight airfare (economy class) from airport nearest to the participant's place of residence to Incheon International Airport in Korea.
※ Please make a note that Airfares for participating the workshop is not provided.
(2) Place of residence: a one room studio or a dormitory room
(3) Living Expense: Living Expenses to cover food, transportation, communication, taxes and public utilities (About US$830 per month in last year’s standard, enough for cover living expenses in Korea.)
※ Please make a note that this program is not a job opening. This is an exchange program and amount of money for living expenses is only for your 6 months stay.

7. HOW TO APPLY
Interested candidates must submit 1) a cover letter, 2) CPI application form & proposal form, and 3) a letter of recommendation from the mayor of your city or the head of your organization.

8. CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: March 15, 2013
This announcement is open and continuous until March 15, 2013(in local time), although selections may be made in advance of that date. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
