"Ride of the Kings", inscribed as the Representative List of ICH
"Ride of the Kings" in Vlcnov, a board member of the ICCN, the Czech Republic was inscribed as the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the ongoing 6 session of the intergovernmental committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Bali, Indonesia. This is a traditional horseback procession that was once widely performed across Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. It now survives in just five or six Moravian villages and on the last weekend of May each year, the biggest and brightest parade takes place at Vlcnov, as a part of the Pentecost traditions. According to the committee, "Ride of Kings" of Vlcnov satisfies the criteria of which, it is a socially cohesive event recognized by the community as a symbolic rite of passage ritual for young unmarried men and it demonstrates the enthusiastic and active participation of the wider community in its elaboration and includes their free, prior and informed consent.
